Taking care of your prosthodontic appliances is crucial for maintaining oral health and ensuring the longevity of your dental investments. Whether you have dental bridges, crowns, dentures, or partials, following these tips will help keep your appliances in optimal condition.

Caring For Your Dental Prosthetics

Neglecting the care of your prosthodontic appliances can lead to complications. Ensure your oral hygiene routine includes the necessary steps for each type of dental appliance you have.

Dental Bridges

Cleaning dental bridges requires attention to detail. Use a nylon threader floss to clean the area under the bridge effectively. If there is sufficient space, you can also use an interproximal brush. Another excellent option is water flossers, which are as effective as traditional floss in maintaining oral hygiene.

Dental Crowns

Your dental crown demands the same care as your natural teeth. Brush your teeth at least twice daily, and make flossing a daily habit to remove plaque and calculus deposits. Regular dental check-ups are essential for early diagnosis and prompt treatment of any issues. If your permanent crown becomes dislodged, contact our dentist immediately for guidance.

Dentures and Partials

Proper care for dentures and partials is essential to prevent damage to your gums. Maintain cleanliness by cleaning your appliance daily and storing it in water when not in use. Use a soft toothbrush and toothpaste to brush all surfaces of your denture or partial. It is recommended to soak dentures for at least 30 minutes in warm water with a cleaning tablet. Soaking helps prevent yeast growth. Then rinse before reinserting into your mouth. Remember to always rinse and dry your storage container as well.

Remember, a healthy smile starts with proper care. By following these simple tips, you can significantly contribute to the longevity and effectiveness of your prosthodontic appliances. Regular care not only preserves your oral health but also enhances the durability of your dental investments. If you have any concerns or issues, do not hesitate to contact our dentist for professional advice.
