Options to Replace Missing Teeth

Posted on 3/22/2021 by Dr. Hallas
Options to Replace Missing TeethPeople with missing teeth often have difficulties in chewing and talking and may even experience chronic headaches on a consistent basis. Besides the poor aesthetics of missing teeth, the medical complications you go through can make life even more difficult than it already is.

While missing teeth would be a major cause of concern not too long ago, we now have a number of options available to us. Thankfully, the field of Prosthodontics in dentistry is advancing gradually, and dentists today have a number of options to assist you in your journey.

Bridges

A bridge is a fixed dental restoration process that is commonly used to replace missing teeth in your mouth through the use of an artificial tooth or a set of teeth that get their support from the surrounding natural teeth or a dental implant. The process for dental bridges takes a number of visits to the dentist and is optimal for people missing teeth due to injuries or gum disease. Bridges can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years.

Crowns

Crowns are used as a replacement for missing teeth, and can also be used to hold together teeth that have been chipped or are marginally out of shape. A decent crown can also stop discoloration and give a natural look.

Dentures

Dentures offer people with an excellent, cost-effective opportunity to replace their missing teeth. Dentures are temporary fixes that can be taken out and placed back in according to your needs.

Implants

Dental implants offer the most long-term solution for missing teeth. Dental implants act as the best alternative to natural teeth and don't require support from the nearby teeth. In fact, they support themselves and are easy to apply.
