Facial Trauma
Repairing damage from facial trauma can be delicate and very sensitive work. Having a doctor, like Dr. Hallas, who can comprehend the nature of facial trauma and the repair that it involves, along with the hands-on training and experience will affect your long term function and aesthetic. Damage from car accidents, sports related injuries, interpersonal violence, or damage from work related oral injuries can cause problems with both your soft and hard tissues. We will check for fractured, damaged, or knocked out (avulsed) teeth, facial lacerations, intra oral lacerations, fractured facial bones in the cheek, nose or eye socket, fractured jaws or severe trauma to the facial skin, bones, and other soft tissues.
Congenital Defects
There are various congenital defects in forming the oral structure. We assist patients who require corrective jaw surgery, cleft palate surgery, and cleft lip surgery. These all too common dental defects can affect a patient's speech, ability to suck or chew. Such congenital defects often lead to other oral health problems, and can having long term effects. Treatment in congenital defects is often complex and involves multiple surgeries and procedures. We can help a patient restore function, increase muscle control, and provide the cosmetic care that they need.
Restorative Surgery following Medical Care
When a patient has had a tumor or other cancer related oral surgery, there is often need for reconstructive surgery. Today, we remove tumors more efficiently, trying to preserve as much normal oral cavity structure and function as possible for the patient. In some situations, portions of soft and hard tissue was removed. Following preventative and curative surgery, we can reconstruct the area rebuilding soft tissues and then through a bone graft procedure recreate the necessary hard tissues needed for supportive skeletal frame in your oral region.
Prosthodontist, Dr. Hallas can rebuild, reconstruct, and restore your oral function and appearance. Through orthognathic surgery or other reconstructive processes, we assist patients in showing off their best feature, their beautiful smile.
